Portfolio

As a Technical Writer, I develop and maintain documentation for software end-users, such as user manuals, knowledge base articles, release notes, and product specification lists. I created variety of other materials in my previous position as a Product Communications Specialist, including newsletter articles, knowledge base resources, process documents, training materials, and more. The excerpts of my work and research below reflect my ability to create accessible, accurate, and engaging content on complex and technical concepts.

When I started my current position, I revamped all the company's user manuals, created a standard document design template, and established writing conventions. I maintain our user manuals for each application version release by writing guidance on the version's new features to add to the manuals. We provide multiple application manuals, which are tailored for our users' different roles, ranging from everyday users to system administrators.

My passion for technical writing started with knowledge base articles! I began by documenting the company's Business Process Management tools and release communications strategy for the rest of the team. While I still write internal guides in my current position, I focus on our user knowledge base, where application end-users can find answers to their questions on their own.

In my previous position, I managed the company's customer-focused, interactive forum, and weekly newsletter, which notified users of upcoming software updates and described how to use new features and functionality. I was tasked with improving the content generation process for and user engagement with our forum. During my tenure, the number of articles published on a weekly basis increased by 16% and average views per article increased by 200%.

I currently write separate product release notes on new application versions for customers and internal team members. The company at which I previously worked released product updates dynamically, so I wrote short in-application notifications on new features and enhancements on an ad-hoc basis.

I developed comprehensive presentations and guidance materials to supplement and document the 3 company training programs I led in my previous position.

During graduate school, I conducted qualitative research on health care access and policy in Southern Ontario and was a research assistant for a published bibliometric analysis of local and indigenous knowledge for climate change adaptation.
